The concept of packing all your stuff hand luggage for over a week may seem impossible to many people, but according to one Reddit user, it can be done. All it takes is a little planning, some sacrifice and a clever folding method.
The user recommended layering your “heaviest items”, such as sweaters or jackets, on board the . to carry flight†
Booking a hotel or accommodation with access to laundry facilities, or finding the nearest laundromat can help keep garments fresh.
The user said, “If you’re traveling for the holidays, send your gifts.”
To help travelers, the Reddit user also compiled a list of the exact items of clothing they put in their suitcases.
This included six work shirts, two pants, an “appropriate amount” of underwear, four undershirts, four gym shirts, six regular t-shirts, two pairs of shoes, sweatpants and two pairs of gym shorts.
Next comes the actual task of fitting these items into your size-constrained bag.
Fortunately, the user also shared a clever insight into exactly how they folded everything.
To start, stack shirts neatly on top of each other with the shoulders on one edge of the bag.
Let the sleeves and bottom half of the shirts hang down and place the folded pants on top of the shirts.
The user notes that these “should sit snugly against three sides of the bag and overlap as little as possible in the middle.
Then lay the shirt sleeves neatly over the pants, before pulling the bottom of the shirts over the packed items.
Rockem_Sockem said, “I pulled them tight on the pants, leaving a few inches of space on one side of the bag.”
According to the user, a “critical” space-saving tip is to put socks in shoes. Then put underwear and t-shirts along the “long side of the bag”.
On the right side, fold all t-shirts normally and then double again. The user says this “allows for ideal layering options”.
Finally, add the sneakers and sweatpants at the very top before attaching the bag.
