British AirwaysWizz Air and tui were among the top airlines to have kept Britons waiting to take off last year. This is according to an analysis of data from the Civil Aviation Authority.
The data showed that Wizz Air made passengers wait the longest to get in the air, with wait times exceeding three times with some other airlines.
This was based on how far the 2021 flights were behind schedule.
Wizz Air was closely followed by big names such as Tui Airways and British Airways.

The data took into account scheduled departures from UK airports when airlines had more than 2,500 flights. Canceled flights were not taken into account.
While the data doesn’t look great to those who book a flight, editor of consumer magazine Which? Travel Guy Hobbs explained that the situation is actually worse for many.
He said: “While these findings are disturbing, the reality has been much worse for many travelers this summer.
“Vacation travelers have faced a barrage of disruption in recent months, and these latest numbers only underscore the need for an urgent reform of the travel industry.
Other budget airlines, Ryanair and easyJet fared much better in the findings.
The two airlines had some of the most efficient services, with Ryanair experiencing delays of just six minutes and six seconds.
easyJet has even shorter delays of around four minutes and 36 seconds.
The airline with the shortest delays in the study was Aer Lingus, at three minutes and 12 seconds.
