Airport police intervened after the fight started at Dublin Airport in front of shocked travelers, with two men embroiled in a dispute. Before paramedics treated the injured, another person arrived.
An eyewitness said a man “pumped blood” on the ground. The Irish Mirror reports that one man was taken to Beaumont Hospital while another, in his twenties, was arrested.
In images seen by the Irish Mirror, two men appeared to be punching at the airport while other passengers looked on in bewilderment. A third man was then seen joining in and punching, with one of the men falling to the ground. Towards the end of the video, screams can be heard as the fallen man is kicked in the head until he is knocked unconscious.
Some people then drag him away from the others.
The horrific incident lasted at least two minutes and 10 seconds.
Three flights from the airport were delayed, but it is unclear whether this has anything to do with the incident.
A spokesman for the Dublin Airport Authority said: “We can confirm that there was an incident tonight at Dublin Airport, attended by An Garda Siochana.
“As this incident is the subject of a police investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
A Gardaí spokesperson said: “Gardaí, with the help of the DAA Airport Police, responded to a public order incident at Dublin Airport earlier in the evening, May 24, 2022.
“Since then, one man has been taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is being treated. One man (20) has been arrested and is currently being held at Swords Garda station.”
The spokesperson added that “investigations” [are] continuous.”
