The woman, dubbed “Marie R” on TripAdvisor, traveled with her family to the Pontins resort in Brean Sands, Somerset, and enhanced her stay before arriving. In her critique, however, she argues that the £99 upgrade wasn’t worth the money, as her one-star review labels the trip “a shame”.
Calling the experience “horrible”, the TripAdvisor ratingposted on July 4, was titled “this place isn’t for rats!”.
The review started with Marie R resorting to capital letters to get her point across. She wrote, “DO NOT STAY! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This is possibly the worst place I’ve ever come across! Checked in and out in under 10 minutes.”
It continued: “We originally booked it and paid an extra £99 to upgrade…never in my wildest days could have imagined how bad it was! Had early check in (2pm), when we got to the apartment When we arrived, the cleaner was in there and told us not to go in! And not to look in the bathroom! She was waiting for the maintenance man!”
According to Somerset Live, Marie R’s alleged experience got even worse after the advice she claimed to have received from the staff on site. She continued: “It was horrible! I can’t believe they really think people can stay there. Dirty dirty dirty!”
“The reception was absolutely useless!” Marie R continued. “Said to wait and see if maintenance could fix the problem…and that if they could, we’d have no choice but to stay there!
“I wouldn’t put my worst enemy in that! Absolutely disgraceful that this is still going on! It must be condemned! DO NOT STAY THERE! A lady was sobbing at the front desk! I am absolutely disgusted!
“COMMENT AND REFUND REQUEST HAS BEEN SUBMITTED! I will do everything I can to get my money back and warn others! PONTINS, YOU ARE DAMAGE.”
