Brits love camping – it’s affordable and allows you to be closer to nature. AA announces the winners of the Caravan and Camping Award each year, and the 2022s were unveiled yesterday, Nov. 9.
There were three winners of the best campsite award: the overall winner, the glamping site of the year and the regional winner.
The winner of AA Campsite of the Year for England and overall winner was Silverdale Caravan Park, in Lancashire.
A short walk from the picturesque village of Silverdale, the caravans in the park are nestled amongst trees and have incredible views of the sea from their windows. The whole site is set in 100 hectares of mature woodland and countryside.
Silverdale is the perfect weekend getaway for nature lovers, as the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland are all just a stone’s throw away.

The caravan park welcomes not only caravaners, but also campers and motorhome owners. There are also holiday cottages for rent, as well as quirky glamping pods.
Located opposite Morecambe Bay and Arnside Knott – two of Lancashire’s must-see attractions – since 1956, the site is the oldest member of the Holgates Family Group, which own other caravan and camping sites across the country.
Speaking of the winning site, AA Inspector said: “A fantastic family holiday destination, surrounded by wooded countryside and overlooking Morecambe Bay. All parts of the park are maintained in excellent condition with mature trees, shrubs and seasonal flowers; it creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
“The density is generous and the spotlessly clean amenity blocks are conveniently located. There is a choice of two beautiful indoor swimming pools, a fully stocked licensed shop, a stylish bar and restaurant, a bowling alley with entertainment, soft play for toddlers and a state-of-the-art gym.”
