A Reddit user said that on their first cruise to the Caribbean, they traveled as a solo female traveler.
They said, “I wonder if anyone has any advice on how to secure your gear in port, especially on the beach when swimming or snorkelling.”
One passenger replied, “Bring only what you need, maybe use a closed-toe shoe to store things.”
Hiding valuables at the bottom of a shoe may not be the most foolproof way to protect items, but it can be used in certain situations.

Another passenger advised: “The key to traveling solo is to only take what you need on an excursion or what you can safely carry with you.
“In this case, the less you have with you, the better. Do you really need everything and the sink when you go to the beach?
“Take one credit card, a little bit of cash, a ship card, a photo ID and your phone.
“All of this fits easily into a waterproof phone case that has been tested before you go.
NOT MISSING
They added, “Put your stuff close to another family’s stuff so it looks like you’re together.”
Passengers can always ask other guests to look after their belongings if they trust.
Some beaches also have lockers where passengers can leave their valuables while in the sea.
If passengers want to wear jewelry on a cruise, it’s a good idea to bring cheaper or costume accessories rather than valuable items.
