And festive fans facing their Christmas season with the crippling cost-of-living crisis are grabbing the discounts as they try to enjoy some seasonal cheer amid the financial gloom.
But just as Blackpool’s world-famous Illuminations have in recent years extended their season by an extra two months into January – to attract more winter guests – theaters and hotels are now getting smarter about luring their summer guests back.
The Lancashire resort is already a hot ticket, with just this week Leveling Up Minister Michael Gove unveiling a £40 million cash boost, labeling it “the biggest single regeneration project in Blackpool in all our lives”.
The money will be used to demolish derelict parts of the city center to clear the way for £300 million worth of leisure developments, transforming the coastal town into the “Las Vegas of the North”.
Mr Gove admitted this week: “Blackpool is on the rise. We know that the number of people visiting Blackpool has increased in recent years. Behind London, it is the UK’s leading tourist destination. Blackpool is a tourist mecca, a super hospitality village.”
To help attract Christmas visitors, one of the exciting theatergoers is to enjoy a stay at Pleasure Beach’s new four-star hotel, and visit the blockbuster Lancashire town at The Globe.
Nestled in the heart of the city’s famous South Shore, overlooking the Promenade, Boulevard – or simply BLVD – this new chic hotel is primarily aimed at visitors to Fylde’s seaside theme park.
This year’s Christmas family show in Blackpool is the timeless Cinderella – starring The Voice’s Kevin Simm, formerly of Liberty X and now frontman of Wet, Wet, Wet.
Also starring are the stunning ITV weather presenter Emma Jesson and local Blackpool star Charlotte Dawson – the daughter of the late Les Dawson.
Playing the role of a stepmother, Charlotte lets Cinderella’s house fall into disrepair as she pampers her own selfishly spoiled daughters and forces poor Cinderella to become a maid in her own house.
All is not lost for Cinderella, because with the help of her Fairy Godmother, she meets a handsome prince who can save her from the clutches of her evil stepfamily.
Cinderella’s executive producer is Amanda Thompson OBE and the show is choreographed by Lynsey Brown.
Now they’ve teamed up with BLVD to offer a range of special value joint deals with packages including exclusive room rates, Christmas parties, show packages and more.
Other offerings to bring Staycation Brits back to the coast include the BLVD hotel’s signature restaurant – The Beachside – which will be serving a range of celebratory meals throughout the month of December.
With seating for 140 place settings, guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by beautiful decor and impeccable service.
For guests looking to escape to the coast this Christmas, prices start from £85 per adult for the Christmas Day lunch and £45 for the Boxing Day event.
BLVD General Manager Klaus Spiekermann told the Daily Express: “We are delighted to finally be rolling out our new and improved event packages in all areas of the hotel ahead of the Christmas period – it has been a long time coming!
“We are confident that by diversifying our offerings, we will be able to cater to any kind of festive experience that guests want to enjoy and can’t wait to ring in both Christmas Day and New Year.”
Founded way back in 1896 by AWG Bean, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been family owned and operated ever since – with the current general manager Amanda Thompson actually being Bean’s great-granddaughter.
In 2003, the resort opened the four-star Big Blue Hotel, which has become a must for visitors to unwind after a day on The Big One, The Big Dipper, and the park’s newest adrenaline rollercoaster ride, Icon.
Then the success of The Big Blue led them to open their second four-star hotel BLVD on the site of the former Star pub – and already with five stars and rave reviews on booking. com – with 10 suites and 120 rooms from just £110 per night.
Cinderella the Pantomime runs on selected dates from Saturday 26 November to Saturday 24 December with tickets from £12 per person.
