The Acorn Inn at Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire won the silver prize in the Visit England rankings.
The team said: “This 16th century inn, referred to in Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles as ‘The Sow & Acorn’, is nothing short of charming.
“As well as its huge whiskey and gin collection, the country village pub houses an award-winning restaurant, cozy bar, 10 bedrooms, skittle alley and beer garden in the heart of the Dorset countryside.”
One reviewer said: “A little gem of an inn, set in a very leafy village. Food is excellent and the rooms very comfortable.”
